Family Business Alliance Ambassadors are volunteers for FBA who are committed to helping members get the most out of their membership. They are all individuals who have been very involved with the organization and have used resources and programs to help strengthen their businesses and families. Ambassadors are available as a resource to our members for any questions they may have from a member’s perspective.

Lindy Vallier is one of FBA’s committed ambassadors serving the family business community on her own time. Get to know Lindy with her answers to our questionnaire below.
How did you first get involved in FBA?
I first got connected with FBA after attending one of their quarterly events as a guest. The panel discussions and topics immediately captured my interest. From that point on, I was eager to learn more and get involved.
Why is FBA important to you?
FBA matters to me because it offers something truly unique – the chance to gain perspective on the complex dynamics of family and business from others who can relate firsthand. It’s a community built on accountability and growth, both personally and professionally, where you’re surrounded by like-minded people who understand the challenges from blending family and business. And the support from others who genuinely want you to succeed makes it an incredible resource.
What has been your favorite FBA event or activity?
Outside of my peer group involvement, I really look forward to the annual FBA golf outing. It’s a great opportunity to connect and build relationships in a more informal setting.
Why do you think family businesses are important to West Michigan?
Family businesses are the backbone of West Michigan because they do more than create jobs – they strengthen the local economy in a way that lasts. Family businesses take a generational approach and their commitment to the region fosters trust and builds relationships, which make the entire community stronger. They reinvest locally by supporting other local businesses and often give back to local charities, creating a ripple effect that benefits everyone.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I enjoy staying active and my hobbies often change with the seasons. In the winter, I love to downhill ski, while in the warmer months I spend time golfing and playing pickleball. I’m also a passionate Michigan State basketball fan and love to watch as many games as possible.
